[SINGAPORE] Facing HIV & Addiction: No Shame; Just Stories
Sometimes, the most impactful projects begin with a simple conversation.
That’s exactly how Facing HIV & Addiction: No Shame; Just Stories came to life. It started with a discussion with the inspiring team at Action for AIDS, including Chronos, Calvin, and Nicholas. What followed was a series of conversations with Alaric, Executive Director of The Greenhouse, that quickly evolved into a meaningful collaboration.
MediaCorp and the Durex Singapore team helped us take the event to the next level as we explored sponsorship opportunities. With their support, we expanded the programming to include ‘live’ performances and a DJ set by @fivetotenpmmusic.
Why Collaboration Matters
One thing that stood out throughout this journey was how smoothly everything came together. While it might look seamless from the outside, the truth is that it all boils down to trust and transparency, built over time through partnerships with brands and organizations.
When values align and goals are shared, collaborations can go beyond just working together—they become significant. This project has been a reminder that trust isn’t built overnight but through consistent effort, clear communication, and a shared belief in the importance of the cause.
The Invisible Struggles Around Us
Through my work with local non-profits, I’ve seen firsthand the resilience of diverse communities in Singapore. Many of their challenges remain invisible, hidden behind stigma or overshadowed by more visible issues.
HIV and addiction carry a weight that isn’t just medical—it’s social. The stigma surrounding these topics often silences the voices that most need to be heard. That’s why events like Facing HIV & Addiction are so important. They create a platform for these stories to be shared honestly and without judgment.
Social causes deserve our attention, even when they don’t align with our personal experiences. It’s in listening to these stories that we grow in understanding, compassion, and empathy.
Breaking Stigma, One Story at a Time
With this event, I envisioned creating a space where stories can be told and received openly, where barriers can be broken down, and where judgment is replaced by understanding.
Personally, I’ve always believed in the power of stories to bridge divides. Whether it’s advocating for people with disabilities, uplifting underprivileged families, or challenging stigmas, my focus has always been on creating opportunities for vulnerable communities to thrive. With this event, the goal is clear: to break the silence, dismantle stigma, and start conversations that matter.
Join the Conversation
This Sunday, Facing HIV & Addiction: No Shame; Just Stories will take place. It’s not just an event—it’s an opportunity to listen, reflect, and take action. Let’s create a space where every story is valued and where empathy guides the way forward. Because breaking stigma isn’t just about changing minds—it’s about changing lives.
